Northeast OCR Buddy Challenge

The “Northeast “OCR Buddy” Challenge” is an obstacle race challenge for you and a friend (Buddy) to experience as many different obstacle race or accepted race brands in the Northeast United States and beyond.

Beginning on March , you and a Buddy can register as a team for the challenge   You can register at any time.  The goal is to have as many points as possible to be gained the following ways by you and your registered Buddy:

    - Attend the New England OCR Expo (1 point)
    - Visit representative OCR brand tables at the New England OCR Expo (1 point per brand)
    - Complete an obstacle course race in the Northeast United States: New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine (1 point per race brand)
    - Note that each brand can only count once.  As an example, Spartan in New York and Spartan in Massachusetts will not both count for a point.  Spartan can only count once.
    - Complete an obstacle course race anywhere in the world, however 75% of your points must be from races in the Northeast United States (1 point)

Most points wins.

To provide proof of the event and to gain points, you and your Buddy will have to

  • Download the OCR Buddy app and click “Registered” for the New England OCR Expo and any races you are attending.
  • Take a photo at the New England OCR Expo entrance (if attending)
  • Take a photo at the obstacle brand’s tables at the New England OCR Expo (if attending)
  • Take a photo at the finish or with the medal/swag from your claimed race. 

Posts must be tagged with the hashtag #ocrbuddychallenge and tag OCR Buddy (@ocrbuddy) and the New England OCR Expo (@newenglandocrexpo).

This event will run through December 4, 2023 and the prizes will be the following (at minimum):
Winning Team – $250
2nd Place – $150
3rd Place – $100

Each winning team will get free race entries from:
Rugged Maniac
Savage Race.


PLUS A gift certificate from VJ Shoes and Race Ready Obstacles.

We are attempting to gather additional prizes for the challenge.
 
The following is a list of events, by state, listed in OCR Buddy in 2022.  Not all these brands may have events in 2023, but can be used as a guide for your preparation and planning within the OCR Buddy app.  DEKA, Hyrox and other “Hybrid” brands will also be accepted for this challenge.
