OCR Buddy Ambassador Holden Walsh has logged over 100 races since he made the transition from bodybuilding.
And after 100 races, he still loves being able to inspire the community.
He shares why in this edition of 10 Questions.
1. Tell us about yourself
I’ve done over 100 OCRs across all brands. Prior to that, I did bodybuilding and physique sports. I’m from Virginia and have lived there most of my life. I have been in numerous kickball leagues over the years. I also play competitive bar trivia.
2. Why are you a part of The OCR Buddy community?
I love being connected to others in the OCR community as well as promoting OCR to others not yet part of the community. I like to encourage others in their respective journeys.
3. How did your OCR journey start?
I decided to sign up for the Nationals Park Spartan Stadion in 2019 as a new challenge. The race went pretty well and I stuck with OCR.
4. What is your best race story?
I did the New Jersey Ultra in 2022 and it literally took me the entire day to finish. I never experienced so many physical and mental stresses at once in any other race. Thought about quitting at transition, but kept finding a way to keep moving. Finished after dark at 13 hours and 27 minutes. I broke down and cried when I got my buckle. My mom’s birthday was that day and was glad to honor her memory in that way.
5. Who or what inspires or motivates you?
I normally race competitively and I’m never satisfied with my results and always am thinking of ways to improve. I like seeing my progress over time and how my work has paid off. Still have yet to podium and that remains a goal of mine.
6. If you could race any race in the world which race and why?
Hawaii, UK, and Australia. All of them look awesome!
7. What are your goals for this year?
Continue to improve upon my performance and meet more folks in the OCR Community.
8. What team are you involved with and why?
I don’t have a team presently, but know a lot of folks with Oscar Mike and More Heart Than Scars. I greatly admire them, the work they do, and their incredible influence in the community.
9. How do you train? Any special gyms or trainers?
I lift weights and do cardio several days a week. No special gym or trainer at this time.
10. Are you an ambassador or fan of any other brands? Give them a shout-out and let the community know why.
Not yet, but am willing! Let me know!
