The “Mud Gauntlet” was held at Newbsanity on 9 May 26 in Binghamton NY. Newbsanity is a decidedly different beast as it is a multi purpose, permanent, OCR facility. They offer individual training, group training, corporate team events and several types of OCRs throughout the year.
The gauntlet did not disappoint as mud was everywhere. The recent rains may have helped that a bit (seems that region of New York challenges the Pacific Northwest for annual rainfall). The numerous ponds and streams on the course ensured a wet and muddy race. The mud varied from thin and sloppy to thick and gloppy.
The obstacles were numerous and well constructed (permanent facility). Newbsanity recognized that athletes come in all experience levels and many obstacles were constructed with that in mind. Lanes were set w differing levels of difficulty with AG or Elite relegated to the tougher lanes.
This was a fun race that utilized the natural terrain well and obstacle placement was very good.
If you go be aware there is no wash station and but a single change room.
This one will have a place in the ‘27 race schedule for me.
